Description: Instituted in 1942 as University of Ceylon. In 1972 became a campus of the University of Sri Lanka and acquired current name in 1978. Usual admission requirements are completion of senior secondary (12 years of education) and at least 3 advanced level passes in the Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education.
