Subject: Graduate Student Awards for the Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates and Students
**This competition was just announced with a very quick turnaround. Please note the internal competition deadline.
Internal competition is due on Friday, October 11, 2013.
Since 1951, Nobel Prize winners and students in chemistry, physics, and physiology or medicine have met annually in Lindau, located on Lake Constance in southwestern Germany. There are formal lectures in the morning, and the remainder of the day is set aside for the students to meet informally with the Nobel Laureate scientists, as well as with their fellow students from around the world. Travel costs to attend 2014 meeting.
Nominated students must be US citizens, full-time graduate students, and have completed by June 2014 at least two academic years of study toward a doctoral degree in medicine/physiology or in a related discipline, but not planning a dissertation/thesis defense before December 31, 2014 and be actively engaged in research. UW-Madison is limited to a total of three nominations (two to Mars, Inc. and one to ORAU.)

For the applicants selected, nominations are due by Friday, November 1, 2013 at 4 pm EST. Applications must be submitted electronically.
