Nominations are due at the Graduate School on Tuesday, January 22; Deadline for internal competition is TBD.
The Ethics Education in Science and Engineering (EESE) program accepts proposals for research and educational projects to improve ethics education in all of the fields of science and engineering that NSF supports, including within interdisciplinary or inter-institutional contexts. Proposals must focus on improving ethics education for graduate students in those fields or on developing summer post-baccalaureate ethics-education activities or other activities that transition students from undergraduate to graduate education.
The program will entertain proposals in graduate ethics education in science and engineering generally and will continue to support exploration of new ethical questions in engineering, biology, computer science, and other fields. Priority areas include but are not limited to:
The maximum award amount is $300,000 including indirect costs over a period of three years. Projects that include partnerships are eligible for an award amount of $400,000.
The number of proposals UW–Madison may submit as lead institution is limited to one.

Notice of intent: Send an email message to firstname.lastname@example.org with "NSF EESE " by Tuesday, January 22, 2013 to inform us of your intention to submit a proposal. Please include the following in your email message:
Applications for internal competition: Instructions and deadline for an internal competition will be announced if needed.
For the project selected, the proposal must be submitted using FastLane or grants.gov. Information about campus procedures for FastLane or grants.gov is posted on the RSP Web site. The full proposal is due on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 5 pm CST.
