Subject: Graduate Student Awards to the Lindau Meeting of Economics Nobel Laureates 2014
This competition was just announced with a very quick turnaround. Please note the internal competition deadline. Applications for internal competition are due on Friday, October 25, 2013.
Mars, Incorporated and ORAU are pleased to announce that they will nominate and sponsor graduate students to attend the 5th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences in Lindau, Germany, from August 19 to 23, 2014. In 2004, the 1st Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences was held with Nobel Laureates in economics. It is anticipated that some 400 students from around the world will attend the weeklong meeting in 2014. There are formal lectures in the morning, and the remainder of the day is set aside for the students to meet informally with the Nobel Laureate economists, as well as with their fellow young researchers from around the world. In 2014, the meeting will feature recipients of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
Travel costs to attend 2014 meeting.
Nominated students must be full-time graduate students, and have completed by June 2014 at least two academic years of study toward a doctoral degree in economics or in a related discipline, but not planning a dissertation/thesis defense before December 31, 2014 and be actively engaged in research. For the ORAU application, the student must be a U.S. citizen.
UW-Madison is limited to a total of three nominations (two to Mars, Inc. and one to ORAU.)
