About the Political Science Program

The UW-Madison Political Science department is intellectually diverse. Faculty apply statistical methods to models of political behavior, use game theory to study strategic interaction, produce rich and nuanced qualitative studies of political culture, and explore the history of political thought. Notwithstanding this diversity in approaches, there is a tradition of collegiality and respect among our faculty. This atmosphere of tolerance sets the tone for productive graduate study.
