Lisa Martin

In partnership with the dean, Associate Dean Martin provides institutional leadership for graduate education across campus, administers policies governing graduate education, develops standards and guidelines for student services, and monitors educational outcomes. As associate dean, she serves on the leadership teams of both the Graduate School and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education and works alongside Associate Dean Parmesh Ramanathan, under the leadership of Dean Karpus.

Associate Dean Martin’s portfolio includes:

  • Diversity and Inclusion: Responsible for creating an inclusive and multicultural educational landscape through the retention and recruitment of diverse students, especially those of domestic minority and low-income/first generation college backgrounds.
  • Graduate Student Funding: Oversight of the Graduate School’s fellowship and funding competitions, coordination of external fellowships, and assistance to graduate students, staff, and faculty on campus-wide funding issues.
  • Professional development: Involves coordination, development, and promotion of learning opportunities to foster the academic and professional skills of graduate students.
  • Communication: Manage Graduate School’s various communication platforms, including website, social media, and publications.
