What motivated you to start participating in Delta?
Interest in outreach programs for research activities and general interest in sharing “cutting-edge” science with the younger and general population and asking the question, “What is the best (or better) way to do this?”
What programming from Delta helped you become a more effective and evidence-based educator?
Teaching-as-Research is embedded in my work — more and less formal ways of providing feedback to myself and improving instruction are used all the time!

Recognizing the many facets of diversity of learners was the most eye-opening experience and still helps me listen to students today and evaluate instruction.
What Delta course especially made an impact in your approach to teaching and learning?
Teaching and Learning in the College Classroom — the best introduction I’ve had to connect best practices and teaching-as-research to the classroom (over any other graduate program I’ve completed, including Master’s in Education/science teaching)!
How did Delta help prepare you for the academic job market?
The portfolio I created and the Statement of Teaching and Learning (teaching philosophy) gave me an edge for marketing my skills and describing my approach in many interviews and teaching demonstrations.
