Course Description
Delta’s Research Mentor Learning Communities are designed for graduate students and postdocs who are currently mentoring or for whom mentoring may be an important part of a future career. The learning community explores a rich, evidence-based curriculum where you will share ideas, experiences and practices. It gives you space to reflect and reinvigorate, as you build concrete tools to support a successful mentor/mentee relationship.

A variety of sections are available for graduate students and postdocs, who are currently mentoring or not, and as for-credit seminars or as a non-credit workshop series. Graduate students enrolled for credit can count this seminar as an elective toward the Higher Education Teaching and Learning Graduate/Professional Certificate. Participants who complete the professional development workshop series will earn a Research Mentor Badge, a digital micro-credential that highlights your commitment to excellence in research mentoring in a verifiable and shareable way. Consistent attendance and active participation are required for all options.
For-credit seminar (graduate students only, mentoring required)
Effective fall 2025: Dissertators may count this 1-credit course toward the 3-credit enrollment requirement to maintain dissertator status, provided they have approval from their faculty advisor.
